As a leading digital block in the country and famous as the “largest information industry hub in East China”, Wensan Street boasts multiple iconic digital landmarks such as K-lab in Huanglong International Center, 0101PARK, 3D naked-eye LED screens and so on.

Defined as part of the information service industry, Hangzhou East Software Park Co. Ltd. is also one of them, leaving passers-by with the first impression of solemnity and dignity.

Founded in 2001, the park appears somewhat aged after the test of time. But upon closer inspection, it is just like a cyberpunk universe. There are eight buildings all together in the park: Buildings 1-5, Building 6 (Science and Technology Building), Building 7 (Science and Technology Plaza), and Building 8 (Innovation Building), which was also the initial office location of Alibaba during its early days.

Adhering to its philosophy of “attracting leading enterprises, building platforms, and cultivating ecosystems”, the park has nurtured numerous renowned domestic and international enterprises such as Freely Communication, Silergy Semiconductor Technology, Zhizhuo Technology, Zhongzheng Technology, National Chip Science &Technology, and so on. It has a total of about 40 research and development centers, with over 3,000 intellectual property rights, 2 quasi-unicorn companies, and 27 listed companies. Till now, the park has attracted over 400 domestic and international high-tech enterprises and high-quality enterprises.

Liang Jun, a technical expert at National Chip Science &Technology and a recipient of the 2021 “National May Day Labor Medal”, was cultivated by the Jiangbei Development Service Office of Binjiang. As the first enterprise-like high-tech park in Zhejiang Province and the first state-owned enterprise in the province to be listed on the “NEEQ”, East Software Park has successively won numerous honors including national, provincial, and municipal awards for excellence as a scientific and technological enterprise incubator, the 2010 China Advanced Innovation Service Park for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises, the Most Dynamic Software Park in China 2020, and the first batch of pilot parks for China’s Smart Software Parks.

And what’s most worth mentioning is the food in the park.

As a down-to-earth pragmatist, the park not only continuously innovates in its industrial layout but also strives for excellence in daily services. Sichuan cuisine, Cantonese cuisine, Fujian cuisine...all kinds of dishes from all over the country can be found within the park, all of which are fragrant and reasonably priced, satisfying all the staff.

The food here is not just tasty, but also delightful.

A cozy and stylish bakery called HPC Bakery is located right next to the main entrance of the park, attracting lots of epicures.

Moreover, there are many intriguing new elements scattered in the park, like AI smart unmanned stores, “Hello Brain” neuroscience experience center, Hardcore basketball court, etc., providing a retreat for staff after their busy work.

The “black tech” in the INHEART Digital Sports Experience Hall — electronic screens, can capture and record the highlight moments of players in real time, and automatically generate exclusive highlight videos through AI technology, which has been widely praised by basketball enthusiasts. The full-lifecycle service platform and abundant upstream and downstream industrial chain resources have become fertile soil for entrepreneurship in the park.

“Making Entrepreneurship a Seamless Journey.” —The professional service platform of technical support, market assistance, government policies, and entrepreneurial guidance, and a concentration of professional third-party entities such as venture capital institutions, law offices, and intellectual property service centers, has greatly facilitated the entrepreneurial process for businesses. For instance,  the purchase of licensed EDA systems by the park for free use by its incumbent enterprises has enabled Silergy Semiconductor Technology to evolve from a startup company into the largest analog chip manufacturer in China. Moreover, enterprises cooperate with each other in the park as the upstream and downstream industrial chains here are tightly connected, ensuring smooth communication between enterprises as well as between enterprises and the government. Enterprises even collaborate spontaneously without intervention of the park and develop in clusters, forming a “Silicon Valley culture” in another sense. Innovative technologies of enterprises help the development of the park.

The favorable business environment in the park facilitates enterprise development, and in turn, enterprises contribute back to the park with their innovative products.

For example, the sensor network energy management information system jointly developed by two IoT enterprises, Jiahe Intelligence and Zhizhuo Technology, began to walk into every settled enterprise in the park in 2010. The carbon dioxide sensors and wireless sensing technology applied in the air-con systems of each office building can not only automatically activate the fresh air system to purify the air based on the oxygen levels in the room, but also monitor the electricity consumption of each enterprise and provide them with reports for optimization.
